Only buy with a significant discount

"This wetsuit lasted me two seasons in NJ. I got it for 225$ on sale, I would say to only buy it on sale. It will keep you warm, I did 3 hour sessions in February (37 degree water). The flexibility is meh, not the greatest but you get what you pay for. The seams on the front are questionable and the chest flap behind the zipper can split a little. Honestly not the greatest suit but if you get a decent discount at your local shop or a website like wetsuit warehouse it’s not a horrible deal. The suit is warm, I will give it that. Needed getting a O’Neil Hyperfreak and the flexibility differences are pretty significant."

Think again

"It will get the job done but I really do not like this wetsuit. I’ve had many billabongs that were great but this one is extremely stiff and tight. It’s warm I’ll give it that. But I had a hard time paddling in this suit due to lack of mobility. The zipper runs over your shoulder which further makes this suit less mobile."

Actually haven’t worn it yet

"Actually haven’t worn it yet as I’m waiting for the “real” winter to start. But, I did try it on for a dry run and for a 5/4 it’s extremely comfortable and maneuverable."

Poor Fit and Customer Service

"This wetsuit falls apart. I’ve been surfing over 25 years and have had wetsuits from multiple brands. After the 7th session I noticed areas of the wetsuit starting to rip. Upon contacting customer service I got nothing but radio silence from them. Furthermore the sleeves continue to stretch due to the material so it leaves you with very long arms. The neck area is tight and suffocating. I’m about 165 lbs for a medium tall. Other brands have honored their factory warranty when a suit begins to fail under the one year mark but not billabong."

No warranty - despite acknowledged defect

"Seam on the chest separated after 6 sessions. Billabong has acknowledged it is defective but refuses to honour the warranty. Initially they said it was because it was outside 1 year of purchase (but it was only 10 months), then “they lost all their purchase records” but of course I have the email invoice (purchased from their website), then they no longer do repairs and no longer have that model but it is still on the website and available in my size. Eventually my case was passed along to a higher level and then it has been two months of silence despite multiple polite requests for an update. It is a shame as I liked the fit and performance. Had they stood behind their warranty I would have tried other Billabong wetsuits. Now my surfing family of four will only look for other brands when we have to buy at least two wetsuits a year…. There is still time to rectify this Billabong if you would like to contact me"
