BIO
Denmark born, Australian raised surfer Isabella Nichols is a force to be reckoned with. She’s all about experiencing the sand-coated coasts of far-flung places as well as keeping a firm focus on snagging career-launching wins. She began surfing at 9 years old and decided then that she would become a professional surfer. In 2015 she claimed the Australasia Junior title and kept winning all the way to the World Junior Championships in 2016.
After juggling competing on the QS and studying engineering as well as being a stunt double for Blake Lively in the movie ‘The Shallows’ Nichols finally started getting the results she deserved. Two runner-up finishes in the QS 6000 events at the start of 2019 and then a nail-biting win at the Port Stephens Toyota Pro putting her in the Number 1 spot on the QS and cementing her CT slot for 2020. Alas, there was no tour in 2020 thanks to a certain pandemic, so Isabella has had an extra year of training up her sleeve. With her surf coach based in Victoria, Bella had to send him videos of her surfing for feedback due to travel restrictions, as well as build a make-shift gym in her garage. Now that’s some dedication!
Her favourite surf spot in the world is South Stradbroke Island - we aren’t sure if that was the case before or after her win at the Boost Mobile Pro there in 2020. Bella, as we so affectionately call her, is determined to make an impact on the world stage and in 2021 made the final at the Ripcurl Newcastle Cup in April and the quarter finals at the Margaret River Pro and Rottnest Search. She’s one of the surfing world’s fastest rising stars, and was an exciting one to watch as her rookie year played out. Another creative outlet for Bella is her electric guitar - needless to say she’s one talented lady and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
