TORREY MEISTER
Torrey Meister may be the fastest surfer coming out of Hawaii. He surfs with a tremendous amount of speed, which at times, borders on reckless abandon. But like the rest of his Big Island brethren, which continues to assert itself on the world’s stage, Torrey’s surfing has to be considered a threat in any conditions. Thanks to his Hawaiian upbringing, from ripping the little days at Banyon’s to paddling monster, mysto reefs, he’s equally comfortable in the large and small stuff. And with the likes of Tonino Benson, Casey Brown, and a host of others on the Big Island keeping it competitive, slipping into the Hawaiian malaise doesn’t seem like it’s going to be an issue. The key for Torrey is going to be containing all that spirit and directing it into a complete, ironclad approach. The ability and talent is most certainly there, now it’s just a matter of harnessing it all.
