The younger of a talented brother duo, Benji Brand, while still a full-fledged grom, is showing some serious potential. To be expected, North Shore kids are reaping the rewards of John John’s busting-down-the-door performances over the past several years, and Brand is one such surfer. Less and less daunted by big waves, he has already shown what he’s made of in sizable Haleiwa and Sunset. Brand won the hyper-competitive shortboard division of 30th annual North Shore Menehune Surfing Championships and has had good showings at a wide variety of NSSA events as well.
