One of the leaders of an extremely talented crop of up-and- coming Santa Cruz grommets, as of late Nic Hernandez has been on a complete tear, racking up results in NSSA and other various other NorCal grom events. Groomed on the perfect righthanders of Pleasure Point, this young regular-footer is already turning heads, which says a lot considering the plethora of talent that s come out of the area in recent years. While content ripping normal-size surf for now, like Jay Moriarty before him, it s only a matter of time before the big-wave allure of Maverick s captures his imagination. With a strong support group around him, especially his ultra-progressive peer group, Nic Hernandez is an integral component in putting Santa Cruz rightfully back on the map of surfing hot beds.
