KOLOHE ANDINO
Kolohe Andino
From: San Clemente, California
Stance: Regular
Fifteen-year old Kolohe Andino joined Billabong’s team in 2006, when he had just turned 12. Surfing and winning competitions, (often in divisions older that his age category) Andino has made quite a name for himself in the several years since.
Currently a member of the coveted and elite USA Surf Team, he has now claimed two US National Championship titles, six NSSA National Championships, been a two-time “King of the groms.”
Currently representing his country on the coveted and elite US Surf Team, he has been competing in NSSA, World Junior Pros, and some selected WQS events - again, often against older competitors. Traveling frequently to surf in places including Tahiti, Equador, Hawaii, Mexico and Australia, he says his funniest moment over the past year was “getting ‘panced’ by Andrew Doheny in France!”
Surfing since he was five, Kolohe has racked up an impressive string of contest victories. Since winning the first competition he entered at 8 years old, “Brother” Andino has won the 2006 NSSA National Championship, the 2006 Western Surfing title in both the Mini-grom and Boys categories, as well as the 2005 Billabong Surf Rats National Championship.
The son of former surfing champion Dino Andino, Brother Andino (nicknamed Brother because he has two sisters and is the only son) lives with his family at Trafalgar Street in San Clemente. He openly admits that he hates being called “grommet,” yet to his dismay, he acknowledges that “there’s nothing I can do about it.”
In addition to competing in national contests, Andino will be leading the charge for Kustom Shoes, one of Billabong’s newly acquired brands. He will also be attending many of Billabong’s Surf Camps where he will be showing kids his own age how to improve their skills. He says Kelly Slater and Dane Reynolds have inspired him the most, picking two pretty strong role models himself.
In another 50 years when it’s time to make the Kolohe Andino bio-pic, it should be titled “Oh Brother, where art thou?” Because considering how much “Brother” gets around—you never know if he’s running rampant on the Gold Coast, charging perfect points in Mainland Mexico or catching up on school work at home in San Clemente—it’s hard to keep track of him. Already a leader of the U.S.A. Surf Team the 15-year-old regular footer still has plenty left to accomplish, and considering how competitive he seems to be, no one thinks he’ll have a problem figuring that one out.
The NSSA and Western Surfing Mini-grom & Boys Champion Is only Eleven
But Appears Primed to Follow the WCT Giants on the Billabong Team
Top mini-grom Kolohe Brother Andino joined Billabong s surf team in 2006. Surfing and winning competitions, often in divisions older that his age category, Andino has already made a name for himself in his first decade.
Billabong sees Kolohe as perhaps the best dynamic eleven-year-old in the world, says Paul Naude President of Billabong USA. He will be the spearhead of our next generation of champions.

I am so stoked to be at Billabong says Kolohe. Just being on a team with guys like Andy Irons, Taj Burrow, Joel Parkinson, Shane Dorian and Mark Occhilupo is super-exciting.
The son of former surfing champion Dino Andino, Brother Andino (nicknamed Brother because he has two sisters and is the only son) lives with his family at Trafalgar Street in San Clemente where he attends Shorecliffs Junior High as a sixth grader. He carries a straight A (4.0) average and proudly represents his school on the champion surf team.
Although his talent has allowed him to surf waves in Hawaii, South Africa, Fiji Australia, Tahiti, Japan, Mexico, and Indonesia, his favorite break is still T-Street, right at the bottom of the hill a block from his home.
In addition to competing in national contests, Andino will be leading the charge for Kustom Shoes, one of Billabong s newly acquired brands. He will also be attending many of Billabong s surf camps where he will be showing kids his own age how to improve their skills.
His ability is way beyond the norm says Graham Stapelberg, VP of Marketing at Billabong, USA. We see him with a very, very bright future in competitive surfing.
