INNOVATION TO SAVE LIVES OF BIG WAVE RIDERS AROUND THE GLOBE

Since retiring from the world tour Shane Dorian has been chasing the largest swells generated over past seven years; earning recognition as one of if not the best big wave surfers in the world today.  However, last year at Marvericks during one of the largest swells to slam the Pacific Dorian experienced the worst wipeout of his life- nearly drowning. As a result, Shane was inspired to innovate and the Billabong V1 wetsuit was born.

Here’s the story on how Shane and Billabong are enhancing big wave safety and progressing wetsuits technology for elite big wave riders around the globe.

I had a very bad bike accident almost lost my foot
I also broke my neck and back in 2000
relearn to surf

Does this device allow you to duck oncoming walls of whitewater ? If not, how does it stop you from being dragged by the walls of whitewater for potenially hundreds of mtrs without being able to escape ? I use an inflatable in a waist pouch that I can inflate if needed when windsurfing in waves. The inflatable is attached to a long teather so that I can dive down below the whitewater to not be captured in it, and then retrieve the inflatable for bouyancy. Keen to hear as I would like to buy.

Inflatable Rashie supports all efforts to stem the flow of drowning weather it be by education or a device that averts this tragedy, even if this device may have been copied by, let’s say, Shane Dorian or Billabong.
