Congratulations to Billabong team rider Alessa Quizon for winning the first-ever Billabong World Junior Championships to be held at Burleigh Heads!
Alessa stormed to first place in the girls division of the $125,000 tournament to cap off an amazing week that saw the race for the world title play out around her. Alessa's win meant close friend, Leila Hurst, took the world title crown, but it's a great result for Alessa who finished 5th overall, despite missing an event.
Her doting boyfriend, Ciao Obelli, had a pretty good day at the beach too - Ciao claimed the ASP World Junior Title after winning an historic, sudden death surf off against Aussie Garrett Parkes.
Congratulations to all the girls and guys who helped make a wet week on the Gold Coast, an inspiration. Billabong looks forward to bringing the world's richest and most prestigious junior event back in 2013! The champs will be crowned at the ASP Awards Night on Feb 23.
