Lea Brassy : 25, french, free surfer, globe trotter, dreamer, peaceful, eco-friendly, boundless… This talented surfer with great potential for competitions and good, early results has chosen to be a free surfer, away from crowded surf spots and competitions. She aspires for peace and harmony and less for the spotlights of pro surfing.Boundless Lea loves to steer off towards new surf spots and cultures, making new friends along the road.Lea Brassy was born in a small town in the region of Normandy, France. Her elder brother introduced her to surfing whilst just a child, loading their boards onto an old wagon, they would cruise along in search of the best spots.Lea discovered the thrills and freedom of surfing and decided that no matter what she did in life, she would surf.By the age of 14 Lea had already been on two surf trips to Portugal and Ireland. Her decision to leave home, led her to a school in Brittany’s La Torche to surf and to study physical education. At 16 Lea rented her first flat with a friend and a few months later that same year she set off to Biarritz to study agriculture. At 17 and after a fruitless year studying, Lea realises that her vocation lies in assisting others and she finally finds her path in nursing. She heads back to Europe and settles down in the notorious surf region of the South West of France.Lea has had some great coverage in the press and entered Billabong Europe’s surf team in 2005. Today, at 25, her nursing studies achieved, Lea can fulfill her love for travelling around the globe. Her next goal is to explore uncrowded countries, looking for secret spots.
Lea’s dream is very simple and humble. To set roots in a house by the ocean, in a remote location and raise a family and walk barefoot on the sand, enjoy good surf and travel all over the globe. We might just follow Lea’s footprints in the sand!
