"My opinion is, sometimes I don't know if I'm ready and I go anyways," says Maya Gabeira, "There will be days when I face something I haven't experienced yet and I cannot look at somebody and say I'm 100% sure I'm ready for it. But I'm going to try because I've worked every day, trained many hours to be there. If I'm ready or not, only the ocean can tell me."

Maya Gabeira is nominated for the 2010 Girls Performance Award at the Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards happening this Friday.
