As part of a joint sponsorship with Surfer Girl, it is with great pleasure that leading surf brand, Billabong, proudly welcomes Joniati Love Hansel to the Billabong Grommets Team.
Affectionately known as Cinta by her peers, for over two years the wide-eye ever effusive 12 year old has been teasing key industry makers with her surf skills, cleaning out podium positions in most competitions she’s ever taken part in. One of her more notable achievements was at the 2013 Billabong Pro Bali surf event at Balangan Beach, where she took out competitors well beyond her years and rightfully took home the first runner up title in the Womens Open Division for her brilliant surf run. Already leaving impressionable footprints in the Bali surf circuit, Cinta was also awarded the 2013 ASC Junior Womens Under 16 Champion.
Billabong spokesperson Arini Sukmawati comments, “We’re extremely happy to have Cinta onboard. Along with her excellent surf skills and winning attitude, we look forward to working more closely with Surfer Girl to open more doors and mould her into a world class athlete.”
With Asia’s surf scene growing fast, it will not take long for Cinta to make her presence felt in the region. Already cited as one of the most promising female surf prospects in the country, Cinta is definitely one to keep your eye on, and will now join fellow teammate and grom, Mega Artana, in further developing their skills with Billabong.
When asked about her plans and goals as an athlete, without hesitation, Cinta replied, “I’ve been cross-training with skateboarding and Pencak Silat (Indonesian Martial Arts) to help improve my surf.” She adds “I hope to inspire more girls and women in Asia to surf, and I’m going to work towards that by making my dreams of winning the first world title for Indonesia come true!”
Welcome to the family!
