Frederic von Osten, or Fredy to everybody else, has a pretty simple plan for world wake domination. “I just go ride and enjoy myself. And when I’m not riding, I just hang with friends, have fun and, of course, party.”
It’s a simple plan based on the good things in life. And it’s working. He is a former two times junior world champion, a Telekom Extreme Playgrounds winner and in 2012 stepped up into the Open division with immediate, mind blowing, success. He won his first German Nationals in the Pro Category, then won the first stop of the IWWF World Cup Tour in Tokyo. Continuing a ridiculous run, he backed that up with a win in the European Championships. And all this before he turned 20.
With his carefree attitude and his pure love of the sport it might be easy to overlook his determination to push wakeboarding to whole new levels. Inspired by snowboarding and skateboarding, and by being heavily involved in the product he wears and rides, his progression will be forever linked to that of his sport. It seems that Fredy is always having fun, it just happens that his fun represents the future of wakeboarding.
