Coming from the wave rich town of Cascais, just outside Portugal’s capital of Lisbon, Frederico Morais is one of the hottest prospects in European surfing. 2012 was his last year in the junior ranks and the stylish naturalfooter capped an exceptional year, coming fifth in the ASP World Junior Titles event in Bali, which was won by Australian Jack Freestone.

Morais surfing in that event really stamped his class on the international stage, his powerful turns and tuberiding ability especially turning heads. The great result came after a stellar European 2012 summer where Morais made four out of five finals on the ASP European Junior series, as well as making progress through some of the bigger WQS events on tour.

“I’m really happy with my surfing” said Morais. “I’ve improved my small wave act and made a load of finals on the European Junior Series. I’ve been working with Richard Marsh and the Billabong program all year and feel ready to step up to the next level and now tackle the WQS.”

With a fierce determination, super mature style and strong family support Kikas is Portugal’s best chance of adding to the elite World Tour ranks. Willing to work on his weaknesses and typically Portuguese in his passionate approach to surfing, he is ready to hit the world tour and transfer his once in a generation talent into a successful and long lasting career.
