Last week, the first ever Asian Flow Series came to an end with riders from all over the far east region competing on the Double FlowRider here at Wave House Sentosa. The best of the best went to war and gave the crowd quite a show with some amazing tricks that dropped everyone's jaw.
The Women’s Expert Flowboard division was a head to head flow off between Singapore’s Gillian Tay and South Korea’s Park Kwaeon. Gillian put together some solid runs with an array of moves and the results were very close. Kwaeon was impressing everyone with her smooth style and sharp 360 spins. In the end it came down to Gillian’s bigger variety of tricks that won her the spot on Asia’s FlowRider Team.
The Men’s Expert Flowboard division came down to fractions as all three riders were going big with no plans to go home. They all wanted to take the men’s flowboarder spot on Asia’s team and represent their hometowns. The top spot ended up going to Saipan’s Song Chi Su who put together the most impressive runs. Australia’s Nick Edmunds was landing tricks with clean precision and was nipping the heels of Chi Su the entire final. Local ripper Sham Jamal put on a good fight and placed just behind his two competitors.
The Expert Bodyboard division was a battle of epic proportions with some of the best drop knee and prone Sentosa has seen all year. It was Australia’sNick Edmunds who edged out the competition with rolls and rodeos galore. Saipan’s Suzuki was a crowd favorite with his flashy style and took the second place on the podium. Third place went to Malaysia’s David Cheng who displayed a wide variety of flips and spins. Zach Li was close behind with some of his best riding to date.
