In an extraordinary challenge down to the wire at last month’s Taiwan Open of Surfing 2013 in Taitung, Indonesia’s Raditya Rondi managed to pull off an amazing feat winning his third consecutive Asian Surf Championship (ASC) Open title.  Despite nursing an injured knee and a consequent fall in form at the season end, Rady (as he is best known), was able to hold his lead to the end, and endured fired up last moment challenges from Putra Hermawan and Dede Suryana.

To manage three consecutive championship titles on the growing Asian Tour is an amazing accomplishment that will be in the record books forever. Future challengers will find this a difficult achievement to top.

The man himself commented, “So good to get three [titles] in a row. Now I’m just working hard on a new strategy to try to get a 4th!”

Paul Anderson from Billabong Indonesia comments “We are so proud of Raditya. He has been with us since he was 12 years of age, and is such a loyal, cool focused gentleman who has fought through many challenges to get where he is.” He further adds, “Rady’s a guy who really deserves respect for his success. Watch him, as he is already targeting another major win next year!”

Rady can now rest his injured knee knowing that he performed with the utmost of dedication this year, and start focussing on next year’s challenges as the ASC circuit grows.

Billabong is very extremely proud, and congratulates Made Raditya Rondi on this epic achievement. A special thank you goes out the ASC for putting together such an amazing circuit.
