If you’re living in Asia, you would probably know that DC Shoes recently did a huge skate tour around Asia with athletes Nyjah Huston, Tommy Fynn, Jake Hayes, Matt Miller, Wes Kremer and Cyril Jackson. The Singapore stop took place early September (3 – 6), and just before they treated fans to a sweet skate demo, I was lucky enough to catch up with the team for a casual round of skate. Well, I said lucky because it’s not everyday you get to skate with these Pros.
Being a native here in Singapore, I thought it’s most fitting to take time around my favourite street skate joints in Singapore: Esplanade banks, Memo 5-block, MBS-15, and heaps more which I will keep secret for now. Everyone was shredding and it was a treat to witness incredible skating, and everywhere we went, there were fan boys/girls taking pictures of us. Surprisingly, security wasn't really a hassle and skateboarding was good.
Also keeping me busy throughout the month of September is the 2nd Annual KOTR (King of The Road) challenge held by local shoe company Backsmith shoes. KOTR is a set of challenges given out to 5 different participating teams with the best and upcoming skateboarders in Singapore. It comprises of both skateboarding and miscellaneous challenges to be completed within the month of September before the official submission deadline in October. The premiere of KOTR will be held on the 26 October at Home Club, Singapore, at 7.30pm, and I hope to see you guys there!
