Get ready for one of the biggest skateboarding competition Indonesia has ever seen – The Billabong City Squared Indo presented by Sony Ericsson.
The event will feature a massive prize purse, with a total prize purse of Rp. 60.000.000 on offer for 32 highly skilled skaters from all over SE Asia. The skateboarding invitational is going to happen on the 23rd of October 2011, at one of the largest and busiest shopping district of Jakarta - La Piazza Mall in Kelapa Gading.
“I have never seen a skate event with this huge amount of prize money held in Indonesia. This is big!” Exclaimed Tony Sruntul, Billabong’s South East Asia Skate team Manager. “With this amount of money and experience to gain, I’m sure skaters all over Indonesia will gear up and step up their game.”
The Billabong City Squared Indo also boasts a 15m x 5m obstacle course custom built just for this event. The qualification for the competition will be held on 9th of October during FORNAS (Festival Olahraga Rekreasi Nasional) in Gelora Bung Karno and only the most competent skaters will be skating on the massive rail, ledge, and stair set up.
The champ of The Billabong City Squared Indo presented by Sony Ericsson will walk away with bragging rights, Rp. 30.000.000, a Nixon watch, a Sony Ericsson-Billabong phone, and a Sector 9 board. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th places will receive Rp. 15.000.000, Rp. 10.000.000 and Rp. 5.000.000 respectively.
The event will also be packed with cool activities such as a coaching clinic hosted by our own Tony Sruntul, poster signings, tons of giveaways and not to mention a performance by premier guitar band just back from England, a little group of three uber cool guys called Gugun Blues Shelter.
